Welcome to the Editing House, where good writing happens. I aim to be your first choice for a variety of editorial needs, whether you're a student, a freelance writer, or an organization. Please, read on.

My Philosphy
At the Editing House I'm interested in doing quality, ethical copyediting. Please visit my "Services" page for details about submitting and paying for small or occasional jobs. I also contract with clients for extended periods of time. All copyrights remain with the client, though due credit for my services is a well-regarded gesture when practical.

Company Profile
Pete Mesling, owner and managing editor of the Editing House, earned his B.A. in English Literature from Arizona State University. He is now based in Seattle, where he works as a freelance copy editor and fiction writer. Pete has done a good deal of editorial work for students and faculty in the University of Washington's School of nursing, and for the Department of Biostatistics he was instrumental in the typesetting of books and articles that required extensive knowledge of the markup language LaTeX. By day, he currently works for the Department of Anesthesiology at Harborview Medical Center.

In addition to copyediting, writing fiction, and being an all-around family guy, Pete has edited the "Critical Eye" section of the popular Web site Filmfodder.com. Among his most pertinent work for them is a four-part retrospective he wrote that explores the legendary career of novelist and screenwriter Richard Matheson, whose own comments were incorporated into the piece. When not toiling away on one pursuit or another, Pete also tries his best to make time for good literature, film, and music. He earned his editing certificate through the UW Extension.
